A growing season that was moderately warm with a very extended and warm September and October. Wines were harvested 1 to 2 weeks later than typical. Wines show the huge structure and power of Red Mountain. Wines in their youth were very bold and rustic but with bottle age may be the vintage of the decade. Wines still are showing very young and bright with lots of aging potential ahead. Update January 2015: The huge wines of 1999 have aged well and allowed the huge structure of these wines to be softened with the nuances of aging while maintaining the vibrant fruit. The boxing gloves are off of the 1999 wines and they are showing beautifully, a great time to enjoy them, while we feel they will continue to impress for sometime to come.
